The 17-acre Harris Kratka Vineyard sits at the southern end of the warm Alexander Valley, bordering the Chalk Hill Appellation. Marshall Harris purchased the vineyard in 1992—and grows zinfandel, carignane and petite sirah, supplying grapes to Rosenblum, Pezzi King, DeLormier and many other prestigious wineries in Sonoma and Napa Counties. This 2017 Harris Kratka is a blend of about 80% Zinfandel, 10% Carignane and 10% Petite Sirah. All the fruit was picked early in the morning and transported together to the winery. All 3 varieties were harvested, fermented and barreled together.
93 points-Crimson in color. 15.5% ABV. 80% Zinfandel, 10% Carignane and 10% Petite Sirah. Pretty nose of red and black fruits, baking spices, earth and pepper. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. Claret style, but packed with fruit and well balanced. Black cherry, raspberry, aniseand pepper on the palate. Nice length on the finish.
