2017 Take Five Red Wine-Sonoma Valley-Sonoma County. The blend: 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec, 6% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Barrel aged in French and American oak.
The 2017 vintage was the best since 2007 and produced powerful Cabernets that promise to be exceptionally long lived. The weather was perfect with summer evenly warm with no long heat spikes. Ripening was slow and even which produce the best flavors and tannin structure.
Tasting Notes: The color is deep, dark and brilliant. The nose is true to Cabernet with a bit of leather, some allspice and cedar. The taste unfolds in long strokes from front to back. All the elements are harmonious and integrated. The 'Take Five' finish is long and lingering. It is an elegant, friendly wine that is perfect with grilled foods and red meats.
